My background began in the accounting world as a Certified Public Accountant working for a national firm (Ernst & Ernst) in 1970. In 1975 I opened my own firm in Tucson and later in Nogales, Arizona on the Mexican border where his clients were predominantly large produce brokerage firms involved in international import trade. I also worked with software development and sales firms on accounting software and the early development of spreadsheet programs. This included being a sales representative attending national software exhibitions throughout the U.S. The move to the Winchester, Virginia area in 1992 lead to consulting activity in both accounting and the computer/software business. In 2010 the decision was made to retire the CPA certificate. I started my real estate career in 1995 in the Commercial arena with a small, Winchester firm, but defaulted to part-time residential work as a result of being hired by a software development firm for marketing and sales. When that software firm was bought out, I went full-time as a real estate broker in 2001 with the acquisition of a real estate firm that primarily handled historic properties – Historic Properties of VA, Inc. As broker/owner with an extensive business background, the range of transactions was expanded to include commercial properties, farms, development land, and combination property/business valuations. I hold a broker’s license in the neighboring states of West Virginia and North Carolina. I am also an Associate broker with a franchise of a national firm – SVN Commercial Specialists.
