After joining a small real estate firm in Salem, Sean sold his first house to a good friend, a single mother who dreamed of moving out of her apartment into a home with a yard her daughter could play in. Sean showed her a number of houses online, but there was one in particular he wanted to show her in person. She didn’t think she would like it – there was something about the style of the fireplace that she just wasn’t sure about – but she finally relented, allowing Sean to take her on a tour. As they turned into the driveway, Sean said, he saw “the look” in her eyes. It was the first time he had ever seen it, though it wouldn’t be the last. It was the look that said, “this is THE place.” She bought the house, and Sean was hooked. Entering the real estate market in 2007 was a difficult career path, but Sean has stuck to it. In 2012, he joined RE/MAX, and he’s been busier than ever. Long hours and seven day weeks are the norm, but Sean wouldn’t change anything. Not long ago, Sean said, he and a friend drove to Greensboro, N.C. to catch a basketball game. On the way back, they fell into a philosophical conversation: if you could have any career in the world, what would it be? Sean began to tick through his criteria: it would have to be a job where he could help people, make them happy, make new friends, and be a part of their stories. Suddenly, he had a revelation. “I’m already in my dream career,” Sean said. “This is it.”
