About Sam
Sam Real is the founder and CEO of Engel & Völkers Portland Rose City and a member of the Engel & Völkers Private Office, the brand's invitation-only group for its top advisors worldwide. He brokered the $119 million sale that remains the most expensive in Engel & Völkers history. Sam works with buyers and sellers of luxury homes, estates, waterfront property, and investment real estate across Portland, Lake Oswego, West Linn, and greater Oregon. Before Portland he built Engel & Völkers Bend into one of the fastest-growing shops in the country and spent over a decade in Los Angeles luxury real estate. Most of his business comes by referral. Discreet, direct, and experienced with complex transactions. Sam started in real estate in 2009 in Los Angeles, where he spent more than a decade representing high-net-worth buyers and sellers. He came to Oregon and opened Engel & Völkers Bend, growing it from zero to 70 brokers in about six months before selling his majority stake in 2024. In September 2025 he opened Engel & Völkers Portland Rose City at 511 SW 10th Avenue downtown, where he now leads a team of 23 brokers. His work centers on the parts of a transaction that are hard to hand off. Pricing a property with no clean comparable. Managing a sale that needs to stay quiet. Getting a complicated deal to the table and keeping it there. Sam speaks internationally on luxury real estate, including at the Dubai International Real Estate Congress. He holds a business and communications degree from Arizona State University and began his career at CAA and Paradigm Talent Agency before moving into real estate.
