About Doug

I am a Full-Time Realtor living in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina and working with Keller Williams Raleigh. I am honest, professional and committed to a high level of service for my clients. I am a successful third-career professional. Prior to joining KW Raleigh, I was Distinguished Professor and Director of the MS in Computer Science and Information Systems in the Cameron School of Business at UNC Wilmington. Teaching was a pleasure, and I especially enjoyed working as thesis advisor to masters degree candidates (close to 30!). I was able to help them find their passion, and help them manage a large, complex, year-long project. I continued to work until they were employed in their profession, in many cases directly referring them for a position. I maintain contact with most of them and enjoy celebrating their professional successes. My wife and I bought our first investment property in 2005. Since then, we have bought, sold, and managed many properties, and we continue to invest in real estate. Real estate has been at least as significant to our wealth as our retirement plans, and I am a strong proponent of including real property in wealth building. I studied business (MBA, PhD), and have applied that knowledge to my own real estate investing. Prior to being a professor, I was a software engineer, system architect, and project manager. Buying and selling real estate is essentially a large project, similar to software projects, or to graduate theses. While keeping clients’ objectives in mind, timeline and budget have to be managed, along with many interested parties and service providers. My objectives as a Realtor are: * Maximize clients’ financial interests, wants, needs, and desires * Minimize the stress associated with the process I enjoy the vibrant city of Raleigh and am personally and professionally invested in the development of the city and the people who call it home.
