Early Years Grew up in Coeur d’Alene Idaho. (No, unfortunately Cotty is not related to the Lowry’s of Lowry Hill)1970 Graduated Utah State University Bachelor of Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning 1971. Worked for Club Mediterranee in Switzerland and Yugoslavia, speaking French. 1972 Worked as Landscape Architect for InterDesign and the Hennepin County Park Reserve District. Notable projects included during this period: Master planning for Augsburg College, Minnesota Zoo, Carver Park Bike Trail, Baker Park, Lake Independence Camp Ground. 1979 Began Real Estate career as an agent for Burnet Realty in Minneapolis. 1979-1989 Specialized in the sale of commercial / investment property. 1981-1985 Completed all courses for the CCIM designation -- Certified Commercial Investment Member of the Realtor’s National Marketing Institute. 1983 Converted an existing building to condominiums, and continued to be involved in converting and selling more than two dozen separate condominium projects in the Minneapolis Lakes Area. 1985 First recognized in Burnet Realty’s President’s Club, an award he continued to achieve most every year that followed 1985-2001. During this same period, Cotty purchased several small apartment buildings in the Minneapolis Lakes area and became involved in the Minnesota Multi-Housing association tenants and landlords. 1990 Began to specialize in residential sales and obtained the CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) designation, a certification held by only 5% of all Realtors 1990-2010 In this period, Cotty has marketed, sold and closed hundreds of single-family homes, duplexes, and condominiums in the Minneapolis Lakes area. 1993 Cotty began renting the billboard on the side of the Burch Pharmacy overlooking the corner of Hennepin and Franklin Avenues. The billboard has become the object of frequent graffiti attacks and continues to be a famous local site. 2002 One of the top 40 sales associates (of 2,700) at Coldwell Banker Burnet Awarded the International President’s Premier designation - Coldwell Banker’s highest honor 2003 Awarded Coldwell Banker Burnet’s International President’s Elite award. 2004 Received several company awards including 28th place in number of listings and 50th in gross commission dollars generated in a company of 3,300 agents, resulting in the International President’s Elite designation. One of the 44 agents of 3,300 to receive the 100% Club award for a listing and a sale in each month of 2004. 2002-2014 Voted by readers of Minneapolis St. Paul magazine/Twin Cities Business Monthly as a “Super Real Estate Agent” probably every year, but I have lost count. 2005 Joined Keller Williams Realty as partner/owner of a new Minneapolis Lakes Area office, leaving Coldwell Banker after a 25 year career. 2009 Elected to Keller Williams International Associate Leadership Committee (IALC), one of two representatives for the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana & Wyoming. In total, there are 58 IALC members representing all 100,000+ Keller Williams agents at the national/international level. 2010 Elected to the Board of Directors of the Minneapolis Area Board of Realtors (MAAR), 2012-2014 Served on MAAR Executive Committee as Treasurer.
