About David

The youngest of five children, he was born and raised in New Orleans. Innately industrious, he began doing odd jobs as a kid. Early adulthood introduced him to his passion–the restaurant/service industry. Working his way from server to manager, then finally to owner, customer satisfaction and personal advancement have always been the foundation for his work ethic. In 1996 David and his domestic partner purchased Quarter Scene Restaurant in the French Quarter. It had been a neighborhood restaurant since 1981 but was in need of fresh air. They operated the restaurant until Hurricane Katrina asphyxiated the city in 2005. It sadly never reopened but, a year prior, David had begun a new hobby. He enrolled in real estate school. That hobby would become an occupation. What spoke to him in the service industry translated to real estate. Complete customer commitment, coupled with tireless self-motivation, paved the way for nearly a decade of growth and success. French Quarter Realty has been his home away from home. That brokerage houses some of the most successful agents in the city, representing beautiful property and a diverse client portfolio. David’s work so far has spanned Louisiana’s eastern half. From Thibodeaux to the Northshore, from Metairie through Uptown, through the French Quarter to the Bywater/Marigny, he travels as far as his clients take him. David Favret has two loves. Love of the city and its history and a love of family. David is a city-licensed tour guide and volunteers with the Friends of the Cabildo, a support organization for the LA State Museum, leading tours of the French Quarter and assisting with the training of other guides. He also volunteers with the Preservation Resource Center, an organization committed to the preservation of the city’s unique neighborhoods and structures, having lectured on the city’s early history and architecture and educating first-time home buyers interested in historic neighborhoods. Knowing the story of New Orleans gives him greater understanding of the city’s historical and architectural background and plays well with his career in real estate. He and his partner of 21 years live uptown with their five-year-old son. Their son is enrolled in a new French immersion public charter school and they donate many hours to various scholastic projects and fundraisers. His partner, a transplant from north Louisiana, adopted New Orleans after graduating from Tulane University and has been a bartender/manager at the Bourbon Pub, a popular gay bar on Bourbon Street, for nearly two decades and is currently attending real estate school himself. The majority of David’s family resides in Greater New Orleans. His siblings and their families and his grade-school best friends and their families are no farther away than a stone’s throw. No matter where he branches out, his roots are here. He has the best interest of the city and of those willing to invest in its success and future at heart.
