About Julia

My Name is Julia Thorstad-White. I am a Realtor® with Keller Williams Gulf Coast. I am also a disabled veteran with 12 years of service with the Army and the Navy. Military service was the first choice I made as an “Adult” at the age of sixteen’ after scoring through thousands of occupations in the guidance office in high school, (We did not have a computer to use.). I graduated from East High School in Madison, WI at age 17’ and chose the Army. I made what I called my “Escape from Wisconsin.” In 1978 I got on a bus on my way to Alabama, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Contrary to what I was encouraged to choose as a vocation, office work or the kitchen, I chose to work on fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. It was a choice I have never regretted. I traveled the country and even spent a year in Korea. I gained life skills, made lifelong friends (One lives a block from me here now, we went to Basic Training together.) and I learned to work as a team and lead people. After my release from active duty I searched through the papers every day (No internet yet.) and a "Real Estate Agents" advertisement found me, but I had never sold anything, and at first I did not really consider it. Then week after week the ad kept "Screaming" at me off the paper. "Be your own boss, manage your own time and help people find the home of their dreams while making a great income". I gave in and answered that ad, and I could not believe it, I found my Passion! I had finally found my purpose and was able to continue to serve by helping others with a dream to find a home for themselves and their families while helping those who protect our freedom, Veterans', and ensure our quality of life, Police Service, Educators’, Medical Service Workers and Fire Service workers. I was/am determined to be my own boss and direct my future by helping people achieve one of the biggest dreams we have as American’s is to own a home and I do just that. I have a unique skill set for sellers, buyers and especially veterans over real estate agents you may hire. Sellers, Buyers, and especially Veterans. I have used the home loan three times now, Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) Grant, vehicle grant, medical care, dental and recreational equipment grants. These benefits and more that I received through the VA are an enormous advantage when veterans ask me questions. I have been a Realtor® in four states now, these experiences have allowed me to learn the nuances of working with a wide range of people. Responsibilities I have had as a marketing director, negotiator, acquisition specialist, appraisals, with experience with conventional, VA, FHA, loan processing, builder, subdivision representation, special financing opportunities and grants are irreplaceable skills in today’s market environment. This experience has provided me with tools that the average Realtor® does not have. I would love to use it to your advantage. Over the last 40+ years I have represented buyers and sellers through The Good the Bad and the Ugly. Interest rates were 19% when I started in Washington State and it took 18 months to sell a home, and California when homes were selling in hours. I have succeeded through three market challenges, and I have not been deterred. My tools give my clients everything needed to provide the Best Home transaction experience.
